Meet the Team - Alex Scott, Cairney Partner
A bit about Alex and his career
Alex has been working with Cairney and Company since 2020, blending his charity and HE experience with creative and strategic skills to help clients find their fundraising and brand stories. Developing cases for support and brand narratives for clients including Imperial College London, University of London, University of Leeds, University of Nottingham, Breast Cancer Now, Samaritans and Scope.
Starting his career in journalism, via teaching to editor, then onto in-house head of department and finally to brand and fundraising consultant, Alex has spent his career listening, learning and helping others understand the power of stories and words to engage, provoke, clarify and motivate.

Favourite thing about working at C&C –
The wisdom and passion of the C&C team, exemplified in Karen herself. She's a fantastic mentor, a great communicator and inexhaustibly knowledgeable. I literally learn something I can apply through every conversation with her. I also love the clients I get to work with, from some incredibly articulate Vice Chancellors, to the most awe-inspiring academics who are pushing boundaries of learning and understanding. I feel very privileged to have the chance to meet so many fascinating people.
Outside of work
Hanging out with my daughter, Joanie. She's 7, hilarious, fiercely independent and fingers crossed, has inherited our love of learning. When I'm not with my family, you'll find me shuffling through one of the UK's national parks, pretending to be a trail runner.
