Shuming has over 20 years of experience and expertise in Chinese media and marketing, business consultancy and education.

Shuming was born and educated in China, she started her career as a TV journalist with CCTV (China Central Television), Chinese national broadcaster. During her three year post as CCTV’s London based correspondent, Shuming secured exclusive interviews with numerous European country leaders.  Shuming also appeared regularly on BBC London and Scotland news as a current affairs commentator on China.

In 2006, Shuming set up her own marketing and PR consultancy firm in Scotland, with clients from both private and public sectors. She has expertise of understanding and identifying client’s needs with the Chinese market and delivering tailored made innovative and effective promotion strategies. 

She was among the driving force of the establishment of Cross Party Group on China at the Scottish Parliament in 2006. She was appointed as Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire in 2015, the first individual with Chinese origin in the UK.
